On August 23, 2018, roughly three years after passage of the Alison Neustrom Act, the Louisiana Pharmacy Board issued permits to nine pharmacists to dispense medical marijuana in their regions, with a potential 10th license to be awarded at a later date.

GB Sciences, Inc. (OTCQB:GBLX), working with LSU AgCenter, has their first cannabis crop in production at a 36,000 sf (0.8 acres) grow facility in Baton Rouge. They are working with Louisiana pharmacists to serve patients starting in November.

Patients must have a prescription from a physician for a qualifying medical condition. Pharmacists will dispense pills, oils, and topical solutions. None of the medical cannabis may be smoked.

GB Sciences, Inc. (OTCQB: GBLX) is a diverse cannabis company, developing standardized cultivation and production methods, as well as biopharmaceutical R&D. Its goal is creating safe, pharmaceutical-grade, cannabinoid therapies that target a variety of medical conditions.

The LSU AgCenter provides Louisiana with research-based information to improve lives. It includes the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station, which conducts research, and the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, which extends the knowledge to the state.
