Columbia Care Buys Colorado Dispensary Chain Green Solution for $140 Million
The Green Solution chain of cannabis dispensaries in Colorado originally started as a solo location and expanded to a large chain of dispensaries. Green Solution’s first location in Northglenn, Colorado was actually one of the first dispensaries to open in Colorado. Now, after the fact that Green Solution has expanded into one of the largest cannabis company chains in Colorado, it caught the attention of Columbia Care. Columbia Care is a Canadian company and purchased Green Solution for $140 million this week.
Kyle Speidell, co-founder and co-owner of Green Solution, stated: “We finally were able to live up to the expectations that we set out for ourselves. This is a family business. There’s actually four brothers that owned it. Not only is it monumental for us, but for the industry.”
There’s a reason for the influx of investors into Colorado from different cannabis markets across the globe. A bill was signed by Governor Polis in May and allowed for Colorado cannabis companies to be publicly traded.
Marissa Cortes, of Higher Yields Consulting, stated: “It’s a huge deal. It’s the first of what we anticipate will be many of these big sales in Colorado. I think the future looks like less of these mom and pop shops and more of these bigger corporations, like the Walmart and Target of cannabis.”
Columbia Care has a focus on medical cannabis and now a firm grasp on recreational cannabis with The Green Solution. The next step for the two companies is to expand into cannabis markets across the globe.
