Ontario-based cannabis producer Canopy Growth Corp. (TSX: WEED) signed a preliminary supply agreement with Prince Edward Island (PEI) to guarantee a supply of high-quality cannabis into PEI’s retail and online stores.

Canopy will supply at least 1,000 kg of cannabis for the first year. The two-year agreement will renew for a third-year upon mutual agreement.

“…We are proud to be among the first suppliers in the province,” said Mark Zekulin, President, Canopy Growth. Organigram and Canada’s Island Garden already have supply cannabis into PEI.

Canopy Growth has designated resources to help educate Prince Edward staff and stores so PEI customers get positive experiences when cannabis becomes legal for recreational purposes.

Heath MacDonald, Minister of Economic Development and Tourism, Prince Edward Island, said, “Islanders who choose to partake in recreational cannabis in PEI can be confident that the products available to them will be safe, of high-quality, and provided through a licensed supplier committed to cannabis education and responsible use.”

Canopy Growth serves approximately 70,000 customers. It has over 100 customer care agents who guide customers through the ordering experience.  Its subsidiaries had over 380,000 customer interactions in 2017.

The Canopy Care team won Contact Centre of the Year (ORCCA) and Contact Centre Leadership Award (ORCCA) for Training and Development in 2017
