Aurora Cannabis Announces Cannabis Import License from Polish Ministry of Health

Aurora Cannabis Announces Cannabis Import License from Polish Ministry of HealthAurora Cannabis Inc. (NYSE: ACB) announced on October 25th that the company has received a necessary import permit from the Polish Ministry of Health. Medical cannabis products shipped by Aurora Cannabis to Poland will be delivered to a pain treatment center and a hospital in the country’s capital, Warsaw. The company’s importation of medical cannabis products to Poland will mark the first time in the country that a non-government agency has the ability to supply medicinal cannabis products to consumers within Poland. The company’s access to Poland now brings the total countries that Aurora has footholds in to 19 countries across 5 continents.

The unique fact that Aurora is the first company to have access to Poland’s markets did not go unmentioned. Aurora’s Chief Global Business Development Officer, Neil Belot, said, “Becoming the first company to supply cannabis to Poland is validation of Aurora’s ability to do business in international markets with high barriers to entry…”. Belot has worked as Chief Global Business Development Officer since he was promoted to the position from Chief Brand Officer in 2017.

The current legislation in Poland allows for licensed physicians to write prescriptions for medical cannabis products for patients. Patients in the country are able to fill their prescriptions at registered pharmacies throughout the country and, in some cases, will have their medical cannabis prescription covered under statutory health insurance.
