Napanee, Ontario-based ABcann Global (ABCN.V) announced Sung Kang as their new Chief Marketing Officer. Mr. Kang was formerly the CMO for Mike’s Beverage Company, Canada’s leading cider business, owned by Labatt Breweries of Canada.
Mr. Kang has held senior marketing roles at General Mills, Novartis Consumer Health, and Mark Anthony Group. His background in consumer packaged goods, food, pharma and alcohol has given him experience managing large brand portfolios and developing new product innovations.
“He knows how to leverage marketing analytics to create unique brands and effective promotions, and has a proven record of pushing the boundaries of consumer brands using disruptive innovation,” said Barry Fishman, Chief Executive Officer of ABcann.
Kang will be responsible for positioning ABcann as a leading medical and recreational cannabis company, and driving profitable revenue.
The company granted Mr. Kang 300,000 stock options, exercisable for 5 years at $1.77 per share, the closing price on January 4, 2018. The options will vest quarterly over 36 months.
ABcann holds production and sales licenses in Canada. Its flagship facility in Napanee, Ontario contains proprietary technology that yields pharmaceutical-grade cannabis.
The Company is expanding its cultivation capacity and pursuing partnership and product development opportunities domestically, as well as in select international markets, such as Germany, Australia and Israel.
