A bill that has successfully passed multiple rounds of amendments in assembly, and now by the senate, awaits a signature from Governor Jerry Brown. Bill AB 1793 was passed by California Senate on August 22nd. The bill’s action would require that the Department of Justice in California review records of cannabis convictions that qualify to be expunged.
Records that are eligible can receive a dismissal of the sentence, dismissal and sealing of the conviction information, or a reclassification that fits the current cannabis laws of the state.
