One of the biggest pharmacy chains in the United States, CVS Pharmacy, looks to cash in on the recent explosion of CBD product sales.
CVS has begun sales of topical CBD products, not CBD supplements or CBD food additive products. CBD topicals like creams, lotions, sprays, salves, and roll-ons are available from CVS pharmacies in 8 states. Alabama, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, and Tennessee are the lucky 8 states which now have access to topical CBD products in their CVS pharmacies.
A spokesman, who works for CVS, stated: “We have partnered with CBD product manufacturers that are complying with applicable laws and that meet CVS’s high standards for quality,” a spokesman said in a statement.

The latest that CBD has heard with legality came from the farm bill that was signed into law back in December of 2018. This farm bill effectively legalized CBD that is derived from hemp, however, it didn’t step over the boundaries of regulations that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has over food and beverage products. FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb intends to have talks in April on the future legality of CBD products for restaurants and more businesses.
Curaleaf’s Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Lusardi, said in the earnings call for Curaleaf that the company has its products in over 800 CVS pharmacies across 10 states. Lusardi also added that the company’s products will be available on the CVS website.
