A recently signed bill which legalizes the usage or cannabidiol (CBD) oil for those who have not found any relief from traditional pharmaceutical medications will go into effect on July 1st. Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed “Claire and Lola’s Law” on Monday of this week. Scott Hartley is the father of Claire and Lola; both daughters suffer and suffered from microcephaly. The condition took the life of Claire Hartley in 2018 at the age of 17, while the youngest at the age of 12, Lola, still suffers from the condition that limits her brain from full development.
Governor Laura Kelly, through a written statement that was released on Monday, stated: “I’m pleased to sign Claire and Lola’s bill into law today. This is the first step in addressing the health needs of many Kansans, but we still have a long way to go. I’m hopeful the legislature will review this issue comprehensively next session.”

Claire and Lola’s bill will make it legal for those who cannot seek relief from pharmaceutical medications to possess and use cannabidiol (CBD) oil that contains less than 5% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The CBD oil, which does not share the same attributes as THC, is a method to relieve pain, anxiety, works as a sleep aid, and works to help keep users focused. A single vial of CBD oil provides enough CBD oil for several weeks. Doses of CBD oil are administered through individual drops via a dropper.
