2019 Oscars “Swag Bag” Features Edible Cannabis Chocolates
The Oscars are home to numerous awards for the critically acclaimed movie productions of the year, but this year is set apart from the others. This year’s “swag bags”, that are valued at around and over $100,000, will contain chocolate cannabis edibles.
The chocolate edible box, from the Crescendo Collection, is a 1st place winner by High Times magazine. Each truffle within the box contains a 10mg dosage of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive cannabinoid in cannabis. The production company, Coda Signature, also manufactures cannabinoid bath bombs that can relax the mind. A cannabis seed extract based facial moisturizer from the company High Beauty was an offered alternative for Oscar nominees instead of the THC-infused chocolate edible.

All 25 Academy Award nominees in both the acting and directing categories received one of the swag bags this year. Distinctive Assets, a marketing agency with no affiliation with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, sent out the swag bags. Participants who contribute to the swag bag, in some situations, paid an amount in the neighborhood of up to $4,000 for the “privilege” to be included. The amount that contributors pay to be in these swag bags also includes what is considered to be the cost of “bragging rights”, said founder of Distinctive Assets, Lash Fary.
